District Roll Ball Championship Inspires Youth in Ganderbal and Bandipora

Ganderbal, – The District Roll Ball Championship, a grand event organized by the District Ganderbal and Bandipora Roll Ball Associations, concluded successfully on August 18th at the Physical College Gadoora, Ganderbal. This two-day championship, held from August 17th to 18th, brought together the best talent from across the districts, fostering a spirit of competition and camaraderie among the youth.

The opening ceremony, held on the morning of August 17th at 10:00 AM, was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Professor at Physical College Gadoora, and Irfan Hussain, Lecturer at the same institution. Their presence added prestige to the event and provided an encouraging start to the championship.

Over the course of the championship, nearly 100 players, both boys and girls, from various schools across Ganderbal and Bandipora districts showcased their skills and passion for the game. The enthusiasm and dedication of these young athletes were truly inspiring, reflecting the growing popularity and importance of Roll Ball in the region.

The closing ceremony on August 18th was marked by the presence of esteemed guests. Shri Surjeet Kumar Sharma, CEO of Ganderbal, served as the Chief Guest, while Shri Ishfaq Khan, a renowned social activist, motivational speaker, and Principal of Hilltop School, was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Rahil Shafi, Incharge of Indoor Stadium Sephora Ganderbal, also joined as a Guest of Honour. Their presence underscored the significance of such events in nurturing young talent and promoting sportsmanship.

The championship’s success was further ensured by the dedicated efforts of officials M. Shafi, Showkat Wani, Basit Reshi, Farmaan Farooq, and Sunhaira Nazir, whose contributions were instrumental in the smooth conduct of the event.

In recognition of the players’ hard work and achievements, CEO Ganderbal Shri Surjeet Kumar awarded certificates, medals, and trophies to the participants, guests, and officials. These accolades serve as a testament to the commitment and excellence displayed by everyone involved.

The District Roll Ball Championship has not only highlighted the immense potential of our youth but has also reinforced the importance of sports in building character, discipline, and unity. The success of this event sets a strong foundation for future championships, inspiring even more young athletes to participate and excel in the sport of Roll Ball.

As statement issued to Srinagar Mail reads that, “The achievement was made possible under the guidance and encouragement of Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council; Anissa Nabi, Nodal Officer, Khelo India, JKSC; Javid-ul-Rehman, Divisional Sports Officer (Central), JKSC; and Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir.” Special appreciation was extended to Coach Sajjad Ahmad Dar of the Khelo India Thang-Ta Centre, Tral, for his dedicated coaching and mentorship, which played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for national-level competition.
