Kareena Kapoor Khan was caught off guard at the mention of ‘Shahid’. She couldn’t hide the expressions on her face soon after the name was brought up. But before you jump the gun and think it was a mention of her ex boyfriend, Shahid Kapoor, it wasn’t the case. She and Hansal Mehta were asked about Shahid, the movie.
Kareena attended the trailer launch of her upcoming film, The Buckingham Murders. The actress not only stars in the film but also is the co-producer. This marks her and Hansal Mehta’s first collaboration. During the trailer launch, a journalist praised Hansal for making films such as Shahid. “Aapka track record dekha hai humne, aapne Shahid jaisi film banayi hai jo National Award winning film hai. Ye jo murder mystery hai (Buckingham Murders) hai, isme bhi bahut sensitive issue jhuda hua hai — Isiliye maine Shahid ka zikr kiya. Toh inn dono ko script and director ke level pe, kitna difficult tha?” the reporter asked.
For the unversed, Shahid was released in 2010 and it starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead. The film was based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated in 2010. Rajkummar played the titular role. The film was critically acclaimed and it won two National Awards. Rajkummar won Best Actor Award and Hansal Mehta won Best Director Award at the 61st National Film Awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, The Buckingham Murders is set to release this month. The film premiered last year at the MAMI Film Festival and received much love. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead and stars several international actors.
