Pakistan’s explosive opening batter Fakhar Zaman has firmly dismissed rumors regarding his retirement, assuring fans that he remains committed to international cricket.
Speaking about his fitness and plans while giving an interview to a media outlet, the left-handed batter revealed that he is working hard to regain full fitness and is mentally prepared to return to action.
“There is no truth to the rumors about my retirement,” Zaman stated. “I will soon be fully fit and rejoin the team.”
In a lighter mood, Zaman also shed light on his focus on red-ball cricket, emphasizing that he had been keen to improve in the longer format of the game.
However, he hinted at a lack of support from the team management. “I was focused on red-ball cricket, but the coach did not show the same interest,” he remarked.
In addition to his batting prowess, the 33-year-old cricketer asserted that he is also a capable bowler. “I am a good bowler too,” he stated.
Talking about the recent past, Zaman said after recovering from hyperthyroidism, he was mentally prepared for the Champions Trophy and had started training.
