Discusses EDP under SANKALP

GANDERBAL, MARCH 03: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a meeting of the District Skill Committee (DSC) to review the preparation of the District Skill Development Plan (DSDP) at the VC Room, DC Office, Ganderbal.

The meeting assessed the skill development initiatives undertaken in the district and deliberated on strategies to enhance vocational and entrepreneurship development training to create employment opportunities.

A key focus of the meeting was the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) under SANKALP, being implemented by JKEDI, aimed at supporting educated unemployed youth in the district.

The District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, informed the committee that the program would equip participants with insights into entrepreneurship as a career and provide exposure to various aspects of starting and managing an enterprise.

The DC directed officials to identify skill-deficit sectors in the district and ensure the enrollment of unemployed youth in relevant skill development programs to effectively address unemployment challenges in the district.

He further emphasized the need for a comprehensive District Skill Plan, involving various line departments, to expand the scope of skill development initiatives under multiple government schemes, thereby creating ample employment opportunities for the youth of the district.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, General Manager DIC, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, District Social Welfare Officer, and other committee members.
