Fatima Sana Shaikh On Her Journey After Dangal: 'I Did Feel Pressure'

Fatima Sana Shaikh is one of the sought-after actresses in Bollywood today. After eight years in the industry, she is content with whatever she has achieved till date. Busy with her upcoming projects like Metro In Dino and Aap Jaisa Koi arriving this year, Fatima recently sat down for a chat to reflect on her career. During the interview, she also admitted that her debut with a blockbuster like Dangal made her journey more difficult in the show.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Fatima Sana Shaikh said, “I did feel a pressure of not living up to the image and benchmark I had created. It created self-doubt that people might think I am a good actor, but am I truly one? I didn’t want to do solo films, because then the responsibility of a project will be on me and then if the audience doesn’t like it, what would I do? I approached my work with fear, and it took me time to understand that it’s okay to fail and make mistakes.”

Then, it was her film Ludo that changed her perspective. “I was very underconfident about myself. Eventually, I realised kuch farak nahi padta. I just need to do my job, and I need to show up for myself.”

Now, Fatima Sana Shaikh is confident and comfortable with where she is. During the conversation, the actress noted that she has realised success is temporary adding that she is comfortable with the fickleness of everything.

After starring in Dhak Dhak and Sam Bahadur, Fatima Sana Shaikh is gearing up for Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, Ul Jalool Ishq alongside Vijay Varma and Naseeruddin Shah and Aap Jaisa Koi with R Madhavan.

Metro In Dino, which has been in the works for some time now, also stars Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sensharma, Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher apart from Fatima in lead roles. On the other hand, R Madhavan and Fatima’s Aap Jaisa Koi is the upcoming romantic drama produced under Dharmatic Entertainment’s banner. Helmed by Vivek Soni, the film promises a unique and intriguing storyline as it brings together two opposites in an endearing tale of love and laughter.
