Three Cops Injured In Attack By Drug Peddlers In J&K’s Samba

JAMMU, Apr 10: Three police personnel, including a Station House Officer, suffered injuries in an attack by the drug peddlers, while a youth died of suspected drug overdose in two separate incidents in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said on Thursday that acting on tip off about the presence of drug peddlers at Balole Khad– believed to be the drug ‘hotspot’, police team on Wednesday night raided the spot.
Sensing trouble of being nabbed by the police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Bari Brahmana, Inspector Pushpinder Singh, the drug peddlers attacked them with stones and bricks.
Three cops, including the SHO, suffered critical injuries in the attack and the drug peddlers managed to give a slip to the police.
The injured cops are Inspector Pushpinder Singh, SHO Police Station, Bari Brahmana, PSI Abrar ul Haq and Selection Grade Constable, Swarn Kumar, both posted at Bari Brahmana.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a body of one Lakhwinder Kumar, resident of Biyaspur Tehsil Suchetgarh District Jammu waa recovered in suspicious circumstances from forest area near Indra Colony, Swankha Morh.
“A case has been registerd and investigation is taken up,” police said adding that he died of suspected drug overdose.
“The dead body has been handed over to the legal heirs after all legal formalities and postmortem,” said police. (Agencies)
