Srinagar, Aug 11, KNT: A 50-year-old woman from Anantnag, who had been battling for life following a road accident in Banihal last week, succumbed to her injuries at SKIMS Soura on Monday.

Reports said the deceased woman has been identified as Naseema Bano, wife of Sheikh Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Lawarmanda in Anantnag district. She had sustained a severe head injury after being struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road at Banihal on August 8.

Following the accident, she was initially taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for urgent medical attention. Owing to the critical nature of her injuries, doctors there referred her to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar, where she remained under intensive care.

Medical sources said despite sustained treatment and efforts by the attending specialists, her condition deteriorated and she breathed her last on Monday.

Police have registered a case and initiated investigation to trace the vehicle involved in the incident. [KNT]
