Snow is expected to fall across the Kashmir plains from January 18 to January 21, based on current weather trends, indicating the arrival of another winter spell in the Valley.
Authorities stated that this period of snowfall is likely to alter weather conditions, with temperatures projected to dip further during and after the precipitation. While snowfall is common in the higher regions during winter, snow in the plains could disrupt daily life, transportation, and power supply if the system intensifies.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation due to its potential effect on road connectivity, including national highways and internal routes across the region.
They added that winter preparedness plans are already in place to deal with any weather-related challenges. Residents and travellers have been urged to follow official weather updates and plan their journeys carefully during the expected snowfall period.
