As part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal gambling activities and maintain peace and public order, Pulwama Police, on the basis of reliable information, busted an illegal gambling activity and apprehended two persons playing cards for cash at a public place near Marriage Hall, Murran.
On receiving reliable information regarding gambling activities, a police party from Police Station Pulwama immediately swung into action and conducted a raid at the spot. During the operation, 52 playing cards along with stake money amounting to ₹9,000/- were recovered and seized.
Two accused persons were apprehended on the spot and identified as 1. Mohd Saleem Sheikh S/o Gh. Nabi Sheikh R/o Murran, 2. Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohd Shafi Ganie R/o Murran. Meanwhile, four other individuals managed to flee from the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 13/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigation has been taken up.
