Srinagar, Apr 10: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances from his possession.
During patrolling at Brath Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, Codeine Phosphate bottles and heroin-like substance were recovered and seized as per due procedure.
The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir @ Jana, S/o Mohammad Sumadar Mir, R/o Arampora Sopore, police in a statement said.
Accordingly, FIR No. 81/2026 under Sections 8/21 and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
