Jammu, Feb 27 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the rule of law has been firmly established in Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way for progress and development.
Addressing a function here the Lieutenant Governor, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stressed on the need for collective efforts to transform J&K into an educational, research, and technological hub of the country.
“We have to try to transform J&K, and for that, everyone must contribute. We have achieved many successes, with the rule of law being given paramount importance. An attempt has been made to ensure that J&K is governed strictly according to legal principles,” he said.
Highlighting the region’s rapid development, the Lieutenant Governor revealed that 92,000 projects were completed in the last financial year.
He said that J&K has emerged as a leading technological Union Territory, with maximum online services available to the public.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
During his address, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women in Jammu and Kashmir. He called for greater efforts in empowering women beyond welfare measures, ensuring their active participation in the region’s development. “We must ensure that women enjoy the same rights as men. Over the past four and a half years, every effort has been made to guarantee women’s rights and integrate them into the development process. A new team of women entrepreneurs must be created, and their numbers should match those of men,” he asserted.
GIRLS BAG 70% OF GOLD MEDALS IN UNIVERSITIES
Highlighting the achievements of women in J&K, he stated that 70% of gold medals in universities are bagged by female students.
He also pointed out that government schemes like Tejaswini and self-help groups have played a crucial role in uplifting women. Currently, 300 startups in J&K are being led by women, further showcasing their growing influence in the entrepreneurial landscape.
“In big industries, the perspective must change to allow women to take leadership roles. Women must not only participate but also lead from the front in economic and social sectors,” he said.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha underscored the significance of skill development among young people to drive J&K’s progress. He stressed that every individual possesses talent, and it is essential to nurture these skills for national development.
“There is no individual who lacks ability. We need to hone the skills of our young people and empower them to lead J&K’s transformation. Work empowerment is the key to giving a new direction to progress,” he remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor also acknowledged the vital role of women’s clubs in J&K’s transformation, stating that such platforms could serve as catalysts for change.
“Women’s clubs can play an essential role in shaping J&K’s future. We have strived to establish J&K as a place where governance is rooted in the rule of law and where equal opportunities are available to all,” he said—(KNO)
