The construction work on the AIIMS at Awantipora in Kashmir’s Pulwama district is expected to be complete by November, according to the UT government.

The earlier deadline for the project was December 2024.

In response to a query from Pulwama MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para in the ongoing Assembly session, the government said “physical progress” at the Awantipora site is 62% complete with `81212.70 crore utilised (as reported).

The 1,000-bed facility is expected to boost healthcare facilities in the UT.

Para said the delay should be investigated. “The AIIMS project in Kashmir was started before Jammu and this should’ve been completed by now,” he said.
