Srinagar, The ASMITA Khelo India Yogasana City League, an exclusive competition for women, was held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar on Monday amid great enthusiasm among the participants.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Yogasana Sports Association under the authority of Yogasana Bharat, the event witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 300 female participants displaying their talent, discipline, and passion for Yogasana. The competition was graced by Maqsood Khan, Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Fareeda Akhter, National Referee and Manager of SKISC, and Dr Raqib Rasool, General Secretary of J&K Yogasana Sports Association. Their presence and encouragement played a vital role in motivating the athletes and promoting Yogasana sports.
The event’s success was driven by the dedicated efforts of key figures in the Yogasana sports community. Shabir Ahmad Dar (Senior Yogasana Coach), Zubida Lateef (National Yogasana Coach and Organising Secretary), Showkeya Qadir (General Secretary, District Ganderbal Yogasana Sports Association), and Altaf Bhat (President, J&K Yogasana Sports Association) were instrumental in ensuring the seamless execution of the competition. The ASMITA Khelo India Yogasana City League provided an excellent platform for young female athletes to demonstrate their expertise, promoting traditional sports under the Khelo India initiative. The event not only encouraged women’s participation in Yogasana but also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for yoga-based sports in J&K.
With a remarkable turnout and inspiring performances, the competition was a resounding success, paving the way for more such initiatives in the region. The organisers extended their heartfelt gratitude to the authorities, Yogasana Bharat, and everyone who contributed to making this event a memorable one.
