Jammu, March 25: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the government was committed to provide 200 units of free electricity.

Responding to a question from People’s Conference legislator Sajad Lone, Abdullah said that the government had initiated the process by providing free electricity to poorest of the poor.

As Lone asked he wanted to know if the government provides 200 units of free electricity to all households or not, the Chief Minsiter said that the government has made it clear at multiple occasions.

“We have reiterated it in LG’s address, budget speech and while replying to the demands for grants”, said the CM.

When the legislator raised his doubts if the solar power panels in Kashmir could be able to generate 2 KW of electricity, the Chief Minister said that it should be left to the government.

“It is the responsibility of the government to ensure electricity reach to each household”, he said.
