Srinagar, July 9 (KINS):Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Tuesday acknowledged growing public concerns over the newly announced school timings in Kashmir and said the government is open to revisiting the schedule based on feedback from parents and students.
“There have been many suggestions and demands that the school timings should be reconsidered. I have already spoken to the officers, and we will sit together and take a call,” Itoo said while addressing reporters in Baramulla.
Expressing concern over the unusually high summer temperatures in Kashmir, the minister said, “Thank God it’s raining now. We used to pray for rain and relief from the heat. I don’t think Kashmir has ever experienced such high temperatures before.”
She stressed that the revised timings were initially introduced to safeguard the academic calendar, which has undergone major shifts in recent years. “The academic session has changed. Exams now happen in October and November. Since we resumed classes mid-July, we only have August and September to complete the syllabus. That’s why we took this step. But we are open to adjustments that benefit students,” she added.(KINS)
