PDP leader and MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Parra has strongly criticised the National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir for excluding Urdu from the latest round of land record digitisation.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Parra questioned the decision to conduct the entire process exclusively in English, accusing the government of deliberately erasing one of the J&K’s official and historically significant languages.

“NC Govt wherein J&K CM @OmarAbdullah holds the revenue portfolio has ordered yet another round of land record digitisation across Jammu & Kashmir. This time, the process being carried out exclusively in English, with Urdu completely REMOVED, a language that has been integral to our revenue records for generations,” he wrote.

He further asked, “Why is Urdu, one of J&K’s official languages, being deliberately erased from the new digitisation effort by NC govt?”
