“Tribute To Their Sacrifice”: LG Hands Over Job Letters To Terror Victim Families In Srinagar

Katra, Aug 27 (KNC): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday described the Katra landslide incident, which claimed several lives, as a deeply unfortunate tragedy.

Speaking to reporters, LG Sinha as per news agency Kashmir NewS Corner — KNC said that families of the deceased will receive ₹9 lakh in compensation—₹5 lakh under Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board policy and ₹4 lakh from the Disaster Management Department.

“I have already briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the situation. The administration is carrying out rescue and relief operations with full urgency,” he stated.

He further said that the yatra was halted after heavy rains and a cloudburst near Ardhkuwari triggered the landslide. “Unfortunately, many people were washed away in the sudden flow of water. I have personally met the injured, who are stable and under treatment. The bodies of identified victims are being sent to their native places,” LG added. (KNC)
