Workers Recognized for Work but Ignored at Time of Salary, Time to Regularize Dailywagers: Waheed Parra

Jammu, Feb 12, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party MLA Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Thursday raised the issue of the regularization of daily wagers and urged the government to address their long-pending demands without further delay.

Parra said daily wagers have waited for years for regularization and have endured prolonged uncertainty regarding their service status and wages. He asserted that the continued delay amounts to injustice against a section of workers who have rendered sustained services to various government departments.

“They are identified when work is to be taken from them, but when it comes to salary and regularization, they are treated as unidentified,” Parra said, terming the situation unfair and discriminatory.

The MLA said daily wagers have suffered significantly due to irregular payments and lack of job security, adding that the government must frame a concrete policy to regularize them at the earliest. He stressed that the issue requires urgent intervention during the current Budget Session so that relief can be provided to thousands of affected workers across the Union Territory.

The matter of regularization of daily wagers has remained a key concern in Jammu and Kashmir, with repeated demands from employees’ groups seeking a time-bound resolution. [KNT]
