New Delhi,Feb 16 (KNC): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday asserted that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a sharp decline in violence following the abrogation of Article 370, stating that the day is not far when the Union Territory will be completely violence-free.
Speaking on the occasion, HM Shah as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, the Delhi Police has consistently discharged its duties with utmost commitment.
He also e-inaugurated the newly constructed Delhi Police Special Cell Integrated Headquarters, built at a cost of around Rs 375 crore.
The Home Minister said the state-of-the-art facility will become the country’s most modern centre to combat narcotics and terrorism. He added that the Special Cell headquarters would serve as an ideal model for police departments across the country.
Referring to internal security challenges, Shah said that prior to 2014, three to four major issues had posed serious threats to the nation’s security for decades.
He asserted that since the abrogation of Article 370, incidents of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast and Naxal-affected states have reduced by over 80 percent.
“The day is not far when these regions will be completely free from violence. Maoism will be entirely eradicated from the country by March 31, 2026,” he said.
The Home Minister further stated that with the full implementation of the three new criminal laws over the next two years, the time frame from registration of an FIR to the Supreme Court’s final verdict will not exceed three years. He noted that terrorism has been defined in criminal law for the first time, ensuring stronger legal action against offenders.

Shah emphasised that the reforms aim to strengthen the criminal justice system and enhance national security. (KNC)
