Srinagar, 2 Sep: Jammu and Kashmir is bracing for significant rainfall over the next 24 hours due to the convergence of a Western Disturbance and monsoon winds, according to independent weather forecaster.

Independent weather forecaster, Faizan Arif known as Kashmir Weather as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin said, “The convergence of a Western Disturbance and monsoon winds is expected to bring moderate rainfall to Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, with a few areas possibly witnessing heavy showers. A temporary halt in rainfall is possible in some areas during the night.”

He further warned, “Water level of nallahs and rivers is expected to rise. Gusty Winds Alert for the next 24 hrs. There is also a risk of intense showers or cloudbursts which may, in turn, trigger flash floods. Risk of lightning strikes is also high. Postpone/halt trekking plans till tomorrow.”

Residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as the weather unfolds, he advised. (KB)
