Kangana Apologizes For Her Statement On Repealed 3 Farms Laws

FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Kangana Ranaut, the BJP MP from Mandi, has retracted her recent comments advocating for the reinstatement of the three controversial farm laws that were repealed in 2021. In a video statement released on Wednesday, she clarified that her remarks reflected her personal opinion and not the stance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ranaut expressed regret for any disappointment her statements may have caused. “In the last few days, the media asked me questions regarding the farmers’ laws, and I suggested that farmers request PM Modi to bring them back,” she said. “I understand that many people are disheartened by my statement.”

She acknowledged the sensitivity surrounding the repeal of the laws, noting, “When the farmers’ law was proposed, many of us supported it, but our Prime Minister withdrew it with great sensitivity and sympathy. It is our duty as party workers to respect his decisions.” Ranaut emphasized that her views should align with the party’s official position.

The BJP quickly distanced itself from her comments, with spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stating that Ranaut is “not authorized” to speak on behalf of the party regarding the farm laws. He underscored that her remarks are a personal statement and do not reflect the party’s views.

During a recent event in Mandi, Ranaut had remarked that the protests against the farm laws were concentrated in a few states and urged that the laws be reconsidered for the benefit of farmers. “Farmers are a pillar of strength in India’s progress. I appeal, with folded hands, that farm laws should be brought back in the interest of farmers,” she stated.

Despite acknowledging the potential controversy of her comments, she maintained that restoring the laws could lead to better financial stability for farmers and ultimately benefit the agricultural sector. “I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand it,” Ranaut concluded.
