WASHINGTON, Mar 26:The US Commerce Department imposed export restrictions on 70 companies from China, Pakistan, South Africa, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates due to their alleged activities contrary to the US national interests, according to a Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) final rule that is scheduled to be published on March 28.
“In this final rule, BIS amends the Export Administration Regulations by adding 70 entities to the Entity List, under the destinations of China, People’s Republic of (China) (42); Iran (2); Pakistan (19); South Africa (3); and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (4). These entities have been determined by the U.S. Government to be acting contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States,” the document reads.
According to the document, the US Commerce Department has included Britlite Engineering Company, Indentech International, IntraLink Incorporated, Proc-Master, Rehman Engineering and Services, the Sadidians from Pakistan, and Zibo Topred International Trading Company Limited from China on its export control list due to their suspected involvement in Pakistan’s unsafeguarded nuclear activities.
The document also states that Scikro Instruments Limited from Hong Kong, Scikro Instrument Co. from Shanghai, Anhui Kehua Sci-Tech Trading Co., Associated Optoelectronics (Chongqing) Co., Chongqing Southwest Integrated Circuit Design Co., and ORICAS Import and Export (Beijing) Corporation among others have been included on the list for their suspected acquisition of US-origin items linked to quantum technology, which could pose risks to US national security.
On Tuesday, Fox Business reported that Chinese officials are scheduled to meet with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Wednesday to address tariffs and trade barriers among other topics. (UNI)
