Srinagar, Sept 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today attended the closing ceremony of Jashn-e-Dal, a Water Sports event organized by Jammu Kashmir Police, at Dal Lake, Srinagar.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the Jammu Kashmir Police for playing a significant role in nation-building, upholding rule of law, ensuring public safety and order and fighting terrorism.
“Jammu Kashmir Police’s proactive engagement with communities and empowerment of youth is laudable. It has been working with integrity and dedication to protect the nation’s internal security,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He also commended the J&K Police for organising the annual sporting tournament at iconic Dal lake with the main objective of youth engagement and to foster unity, harmony and camaraderie among athletes.
“Jammu and Kashmir Police is serving as a guardian for the youth of Jammu Kashmir. It is committed to provide opportunities, resources, support, and mentorship to the youth, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and inclusive development. Events like Jashn-e-Dal, Pedal for Peace, and various marathons, football, and cricket tournaments are more than just sports activities. Each tournament is a symbol of a new and positive chapter for our youth,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor, in his address, called upon the athletes to inspire young people to pursue their goals and stay away from drug menace.
“Sports is a unifying force. I want our youth to act as powerful agents of change by leveraging their energy, discipline, perseverance and creativity,” he said.
