Srinagar, Oct 31 : During the UT day celebration event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his pride in the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir over the past five years, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“This is not the first time we celebrate it every year,” Sinha told news reporters in Srinagar, as per news agency KINS, highlighting the numerous milestones achieved that have contributed to the prosperity of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

LG Sinha acknowledged the recent completion of crucial democratic processes in Jammu and Kashmir.

He highlighted the increasing engagement of the people in democratic governance, stating, “I think this is a good indication to the elected government,” which signals a positive outlook on civic participation.

Sinha said that a return to statehood for Jammu and Kashmir will be done at appropriate time as committed by the Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister in the Parliament.

Addressing concerns regarding local governance, Sinha explained the constitutional constraints that have delayed elections for Panchayat Raj institutions and urban local bodies.

However, he expressed hope that these elections would soon be conducted, which would allow for greater representation of the people’s voices in local governance.(KINS)
