Srinagar, 25 Jul 2025 :   Indian Army’s Chinar Corps successfully concluded the Volleyball Tournament 2025 today at BHS, Keegam. The grand finale was contested between WATERKHANI SPARTANS & SUPER STRIKERS NUTNUSSA. The final match saw a thrilling face-off between the two teams, both of whom had battled through several rounds to reach the final stage. In a closely contested match, SUPER STRIKERS NUTNUSSA emerged victorious, showcasing sheer resilience, skill and strategic play.

The aim was to focus on community engagement & winning the hearts and minds of the people in the region by encouraging youth participation in constructive and confidence-building activities. The Indian Army provided full logistical and organizational support, including sports kits, refreshments and medical facilities for the players. The winners and runners-up were awarded medals & cash prizes. The occasion was also graced by cultural performances by local children adding Kashmiri shades to the event.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd from nearby villages and towns, with families and youth turning out in large numbers. Locals appreciated the initiative, highlighting how such events provide positive outlets for youth and help strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and local populace. The tournament not only celebrated sporting excellence but also served as a vibrant symbol of unity, peace and goodwill in Kashmir.

Officials attributed the success to the sustained efforts and quality training imparted at the centre, along with strong institutional support. As statement issued to Srinagar Mail reads that, “The achievement was made possible under the guidance and encouragement of Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council; Anissa Nabi, Nodal Officer, Khelo India, JKSC; Javid-ul-Rehman, Divisional Sports Officer (Central), JKSC; and Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir.” Special appreciation was extended to Coach Sajjad Ahmad Dar of the Khelo India Thang-Ta Centre, Tral, for his dedicated coaching and mentorship, which played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for national-level competition.
