After a chaotic start to the Monsoon Session, with frequent walkouts and stalled proceedings, Parliament will finally turn its focus to national security on Monday.

MPs are gearing up for a high-stakes debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack.

This debate could define the tone of the entire session, as the spotlight shifts to defence strategy and foreign affairs.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the charge in the Lok Sabha, laying out details of Operation Sindoor, a direct response to the Pahalgam assault.

The discussion will run for 16 hours, underlining the weight of the subject.

Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will back him, outlining the government’s response to both the attack and the broader fallout.

Senior BJP figures like Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey will weigh in with their arguments.

On the Opposition benches, Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge will drive the counter-narrative.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and other key voices across the aisle’ll join them.

Congress has issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, ordering full attendance for the next three days, a sign of how seriously the party views the debate.

The session began on a rough note, with the Opposition blocking proceedings over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls and other heated issues.

But on 25 July, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed a breakthrough, the Opposition agreed to start the national security debate on Monday in the Lok Sabha, followed by the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
