Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), Lucknow, has become a pioneer in adopting the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP), marking a significant step towards modernising immigration processes in India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah officially inaugurated the programme virtually at the dedicated counters in Terminal 3 (T3).

The FTI-TTP is specially designed to provide streamlined immigration clearance for Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

The initiative aims to expedite passenger flow at immigration counters, reducing queues and congestion while enhancing overall convenience for travellers.

A Government Push for Efficient Travel

The Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program represents a critical move by the Government of India to improve public service delivery through technology and innovation.

Developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Immigration Bureau, the programme reflects the government’s commitment to secure and efficient international travel.

From 11 September 2025, CCSIA will implement the programme, underscoring its role as a modern gateway to India’s growing aviation sector. The move highlights CCSIA’s dedication to enhancing passenger experience through the adoption of cutting-edge technology.

How FTI-TTP Works

FTI-TTP enrolment involves a straightforward online registration process. Interested travellers must visit the official portal (https://ftittp.mha.gov.in/fti/) to submit personal details and required documents.

Following submission, applications undergo verification by the Immigration Bureau. Successful applicants are then whitelisted as ‘trusted travellers’, allowing them to use dedicated e-gates at the airport for smooth immigration clearance.

Selected participants complete biometric enrolment at designated centres, such as Foreign Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) or airport counters, ensuring secure identification and seamless processing.

CCSIA, managed by Lucknow International Airport Limited (LIAL), is the 11th busiest airport in India, handling over 7 million passengers in 2024-25.

The airport boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including Digi Yatra, e-gates, 2D scanners, self-baggage drops, and automatic number-plate recognition systems.

The newly inaugurated Terminal 3 (T3) has a current capacity of 8 million passengers per annum, with plans underway to increase this to 13.7 million.

CCSIA demonstrated its commitment to innovation by becoming the first global airport operator to earn the British Standards Institution’s BIM Kitemark certification for design and construction.

The introduction of the FTI-TTP at CCSIA represents a milestone in India’s aviation and immigration sectors, promising smoother travel experiences and enhanced operational efficiency.

Moreover, as the programme expands, it will set a benchmark for airports nationwide, reinforcing India’s position as a leader in modern, passenger-centric air travel.
